Eucalyptus Essential Oil 10ml

Eucalyptus takes its name from the word “eu” and the verb “to cover”, which refers to the covering that surrounds its growing flowers. Eucalyptus originated in remote Australia and in the 18th century its cultivation spread to Europe. In Greece we find the species Eucalyptus globulus (Eucalyptus globulus) which reaches a height of 80 meters and was introduced to the country by the botanist and scholar Theodoros Orphanidis in 1862. The Aborigines of Australia, who have always known about eucalyptus, chewed its roots to relieve their thirst, as they have the ability to retain a huge amount of water. They also used to boil the leaves and drink the eucalyptus decoction to reduce fever. Furthermore, they ate a solid substance extracted from the trunk and leaves of the tree. When England declared Australia a convict colony and began sending prisoners to the area, the new inhabitants did not immediately realize that eucalyptus could be a source of water. Many of them died of thirst under the shade of eucalyptus trees. Later, immigrants from France who developed a disease of high fever were cured by drinking eucalyptus tea. This established the reputation of eucalyptus as an excellent antipyretic. By 1860, eucalyptus leaves and oil were being used in the Mediterranean region to treat the malaria that had plagued the region since ancient times.

It combines well with essential oils of other woods and herbs, such as sandalwood, lavender, rosewood and pine.

It remains stable when stored in a closed container, protected from light, in a cool and dry place.
