Essential Oils - Aromatherapy Recipe Against Anxiety
The intense rhythms of everyday life cause anxiety, stress, fatigue.
What more soothing can you think of after a hard day than a warm relaxing bath enriched with essential oils for rejuvenation and relaxation.
This particular method of using essential oils is very simple, easy and quick.
Essential oils have multiple actions due to the more than 100 different ingredients contained in them. Depending on the structure and the dominant component, each essential oil has a different therapeutic effect on the body.
Mode of action of essential oils in the bath:
When we add a few drops (2-15) of the essential oil of our choice, the fragrance triggers olfaction, which as a biological signal is transferred to the limbic system of the brain and to the hypothalamus through the olfactory bulb.
As a result, neurotransmitter substances are released that carry the signal message from the nervous system to the rest of the body’s systems, giving the desired feeling of relaxation and relief.
Such substances are serotonin, endorphin and noradrenaline, which are released in correspondence by oils that soothe, euphoric and stimulate the body to convey the expected effect.
Aromatherapy bath against anxiety
Fill your bathtub with lukewarm to warm water and add 2 to 15 drops of lavender essential oil.
The most commonly used essential oil for combating anxiety and stress is lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and this is because it has antibacterial, antifungal and anti-anxiety properties.
Lavender is an aromatic plant that is widely used in the food, perfume, cosmetics and alternative medicine industries. The main constituents of lavender are linalyl acetate and linalool, to which the plant’s sedative properties are attributed.
Clinical studies have shown that the use of lavender in aromatherapy can reduce agitation, anxiety, depression and improve mood.
It can be combined with orange (Citrus x sinensis), lemon (Citrus x limon), bergamot (Citrus aurantium), ylang ylang (Cananga odorata), cedar ( Cedrus deodara), sandalwood (Santalum album), chamomile, vanilla, patchouli.
We recommend a 2 to 1 ratio of lavender with another essential oil of your choice. Total drops should not exceed 15 drops.
